A.I. leads Nuggets to 112-98 win over the Sonics

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Friday 29 December 2006 at 2:36 am

The Nuggets hit the boards hard outrebounding the Sonics 46-33 last night.  But, Allen Iverson is the real reason the Nuggets won this basketball game.  He scored 44 points, grabbed 3 rebounds and dished out 10 assists.  Earl Boykins pitched in with 24 points off the bench.  Very rarely used center Jamal Simpson got a rare start because Nene’s knee was acting up.  Sampson would up with 7 points and 9 rebounds in only 17 minutes of play.  Reggie Evans had a monster game against his old team with 9 points and 18 rebounds.

The Nuggets improved to 16-10 on the season with this win.

The Nuggets had their running shoes on last night and the Celtics couldn’t keep up.  Allen Iverson had a fantastic game with 28 points, 13 assists and 4 steals.  Earl Boykins also had a great game with 28 points and 4 assists.  Eduardo Najera had his best game of the season for the Nuggets with 16 points and 11 rebounds.  Reggie Evans was a monster off the bench with 14 points and 14 rebounds.  Nene Hilario was awesome around the basket with 12 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocked shots.

The Nuggets improved to 15-10 on the season with this win.

Marcus Camby to miss time with broken finger

Blogged under Injuries, Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 23 December 2006 at 2:12 pm

Marcus Camby will miss the next two weeks after breaking a finger on his shooting hand.  Camby has been very injury prone during his career, so it’s not a shock that something like this has happened.  It did, however, happen at the worst time possible for the Nuggets who are already missing alot of players due to suspension.  Camby was averaging 11.7 points, 11.0 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.0 steal and 2.7 blocks per game so far this season.  Nene and Reggie Evans will probably split Camby’s minutes until he can return.

Nuggets lose Iverson’s debut 101-96 to the Kings

The Nuggets shot a pathetic 37.1% from the floor and were outscored by the Kings 28-19 in the 4th quarter and those were the biggest factors in this loss.  Earl Boykins started at point guard and had a fantastic game with 25 points, 9 assists and 3 steals.  Allen Iverson had a good game off the bench with 22 points and 10 assists.  Demarr Johnson added 12 points off the bench.  Reggie Evans had a monster game off the bench with 10 points, 11 rebounds and 3 steals.  Nene Hilario got the start because of Marcus Camby’s injury and had a solid game with 8 points and 15 rebounds.

The Nuggets fell to 14-10 on the season with this loss.

Nuggets make big trade for Allen Iverson

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Wednesday 20 December 2006 at 12:09 pm

The Nuggets traded for the dynamic Allen Iverson, but not without paying a huge price to get him!  The Nuggets traded Andre Miller, Joe Smith and 2 2007 first round draft picks to the 76ers for Allen Iverson and rookie forward Ivan McFarlin.

Allen Iverson this season has only played in 15 games (due to his trade demand) and has averaged 42.7 minutes, 31.2 points, 2.7 rebounds, 7.3 assists and 2.2 steals per game so far this season.  Young Ivan McFarlin has played in 11 games and has averaged 3.7 minutes, 1.4 points and 1.0 rebounds per game so far this season.

Allen Iverson has had a great career so far.  He has played in 697 games and has averaged 41.7 minutes, 28.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 2.3 steals per game for his career.  Iverson has been a great player over his career, but at his age and with his style of play….their are questions about how much more he has left in the tank.  The Nuggets made this move strictly to save this season because of the suspensions to Anthony and JR Smith.  If those suspensions never happened than it would have been foolish to trade Andre Miller, who is one of the most unselfish players in the NBA.  Miller would rather let him teammates be the stars of the show.  Allen Iverson needs the spotlight and he will help the Nuggets in the short term, because they need help to replace all the points they are going to lose for the next 10-15 games….but they paid full price and then some.  If Carmelo Anthony and Allen Iverson can find a way to divvy up the shots, they will be a dangerous team come playoff time.
