Suspensions could alter season for the Nuggets
When the NBA handed down their suspensions for the Nuggets-Knicks fight, they came down hard on the Nuggets. Carmelo Anthony was suspended for 15 games, JR Smith for 10 games and Nene Hilario for one game. So the Nuggets will be without their top 2 scorers for 9 more games after last night. Carmelo Anthony is averaging 31.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game this season. He will be replaced in the starting line-up by Linas Kleiza which is a gigantic drop. JR Smith is the Nuggets second leading scorer as he’s averaged 16.9 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game so far this season. Smith will be missed for his three-point shooting as he leads the Nuggets having made 60 of them. The next closest Nuggets player is rookie Yakhouba Diawara with 18. Diawara will be starting in place of Smith, so maybe he’ll be the outside shooter the Nuggets need until Smith returns. Nene was only suspended for last night’s game.
