Carmelo Anthony keeps improving every season as a basketball player and it shows in his numbers.  He only played in 65 games last season (because of the suspension due to the fight with the Knicks) and he averaged 38.2 minutes, 28.9 points, 6.0 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.2 steals per game.  He shot well from both the floor (47.6%) and the free throw line (80.8%).  But, he should could shooting 3’s as he only hit 26.8% of them.

Anthony’s career numbers keep spiking upward as his overall game continues to improve.  In 302 games, Anthony has averaged 24.1 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.9 assists and 1.1 steals per game over his career.  His FG % is now 45.5% for his career and his free throw % now sits at 79.8%.  Still, Anthony should let his teammates shoot the 3-pointers as he’s only hit 27.9% over his career.  Look for Anthony’s career numbers to continue to improve.

The Nuggets played good in the first half but they were horrible in the 2nd half as the Spurs outscored them 49-30 and that’s the reason for the loss last night.  The Nuggets only shot 37.7% from the floor and that didn’t help matters last night.  Carmelo Anthony led the way for the Nuggets with 21 points and 7 rebounds.  Allen Iverson had an awful shooting night (6 for 22) and he finished with 21 points and 8 assists.  Steve Blake pitched in with 12 points.  Nene was active again last night with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists.  Marcus Camby didn’t shoot well (2 for 10) but he finished with 4 points, 19 rebounds, 2 assists and 5 blocked shots.  The Nuggets lost this series 4-1 to the Spurs.

The Nuggets just didn’t have enough firepower to beat the Spurs last night.  Carmelo Anthony led the way for the Nuggets with 29 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.  Allen Iverson only shot 9 for 25 from the floor last night but he still finished with 22 points and 7 assists.  Nene (18 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists) and Marcus Camby (10 points, 17 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 blocked shots) both did great jobs of patrolling the paint last night on both offense and defense.  Steve Blake and J.R. Smith both had lousy nights as they combined to score 4 points on 2 of 11 shooting from the floor.  The Nuggets are now down 3-1 to the Spurs in this series.
