Carmelo Anthony had a big night and led the Denver Nuggets (19-7) to the victory over the Houston Rockets (14-11).  Melo didn’t shoot great from the field, only hitting 9-23 shots, but he was very aggressive and got to the free throw line a lot.  He hit 19-20 free throws on his way to 38 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block.  Chauncy Billups was having a nice game before leaving with a groin injury.  He shouldn’t miss more than a few games, so it’s not too serious.  J.R. Smith came off the bench and shot the ball very well, going 9-14 for 21 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals.  This was a solid win for the Nuggets with Billups sitting out the entire second half.

Ty Lawson is playing great for a rookie

Blogged under NBA Blogs, General, Bloglockers, Big Nuggets News, Rookie Reports, Steppin Up by Andrew on Friday 11 December 2009 at 12:38 am

Many people said Ty Lawson was too short for the NBA…those people were dead wrong.  Lawson’s incredible speed has wreaked havoc on defenses in the NBA, just like it did while he was at the University of North Carolina.  Lawson doesn’t get a ton of minutes, but he makes a lot happen in the playing time he gets.  He has been a nice addition for this loaded Nuggets team, but where does he rank among the other elite rookies?  Find out here at my list of the Top Rookies in the NBA so far.
