The Nuggets acquired Sonny Weems from the Bulls for a 2nd round pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. This was a good move for the Nuggets as they couldn’t afford to stand pat. Weems can handle either shooting guard or small forward as he is 6′6″, 203 pounds. He played in 69 games (66 starts) at Arkansas and he averaged 13.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game. It will be interesting to see how much playing time the Nuggets give Weems because they don’t like to play their young players right away.

Taurean Green did not play too well for the Denver Nuggets as a rookie

The Nuggets acquired (G) Taurean Green during the season from the Blazers for Von Wafer and he really didn’t do too much for them. Green played in 9 games (0 starts) for the Nuggets last season and he averaged 3.3 minutes, 1.1 points, 0.7 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. He only shot 33.3% from the floor for the Nuggets this season and it will be hard for him to get any playing time until he shoots a little bit better. Green played in 17 games (0 starts) for the Nuggets & Blazers this season and he averaged 4.4 minutes, 1.6 points, 0.6 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game on 28% shooting from the floor.

The Denver Nuggets hope Taurean Green is a keeper

The Nuggets hope that Taurean Green can help them out as a backup guard and that’s why they moved Von Wafer for him. Green has played in only 1 game for the Nuggets this season and he scored 4 points, grabbed 3 rebounds and dished out 1 assist. Green has now played in 9 games (0 starts) this season for the Nuggets and Blazers and he is averaging 5.6 minutes, 2.3 points, 0.8 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. Green likely has a better upside than Wafer so the Nuggets were smart to bring him in.

Yakhouba Diawara has a rough rookie season

Blogged under Bloglockers, Rookie Reports, Front Page by alleyoop on Friday 20 April 2007 at 9:19 am

(G/F) Yakhouba Diawara played in 64 games as a rookie this season and he averaged 4.4 points, 1.7 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game.  He only shot 34.2% from the floor and 28.8% from three-point range.  He lost playing time during the season because of his poor shooting and he won’t be part of the rotation for the playoffs on the Nuggets.  He looks like a career backup if he improves his shooting.

Nuggets’ rookie not playing well

Blogged under Rookie Reports, Front Page by Nothing but Net on Saturday 3 February 2007 at 6:55 pm

Rookie shooting guard Yakhouba Diawara has not played well for the Nuggets this season and he could start to see less minutes on the court when the Nuggets get healthy.  Diawara has played in 42 games and is averaging 21.4 minutes, 5.5 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.0 assists.  The problem with Diawara is his shot selection which is very poor.  He’s only hitting 34% of his shots from the floor!  He should quit shooting three-pointers for awhile because he can’t make them.  He has only made 40 of 146 three point attempts which is only good for 27.4%.
